Back from the shopping trip!

Thanks to the wonderful Kath Purkis of Le Black Book, I have just added some new pieces to my wardrobe; in preparation for Rosemount Australia Fashion Week (RAFW). The Sretsis Dreamy Lace Tiered Dress in cream, which is just gorgeous (and $670!) is a beautiful addition to my closet because it is such a classic ,feminine and romantic transeasonal piece which can take you from day (with a pair of gold flats) or dressed up at night or launch parties (with some fierce black heels to contrast). Talk about fabulous. Not to mention, I got the most amazing mens oversized tailored waistcoat by cult label Injury, perfect with lame leggings and a plain round neck singlet top and a pair of brogues for a gorgeous androgynous look, and more perfect for fashion week. Gotta love that. xx Lisa

Contrary to popular belief...

HG and I did not get into a fight and decided to stop working together on I am Fashion and started our own blogs instead. (Even our mutual friends wondered about it!) We still email each other daily about the intricate details of our lives and random thoughts we have, and feel extremely empty when the other is away and has no access to the internet. When I freak out, she is the first person I call and she is still my maid of honor when I fantasize about my wedding. Our reasons for closing down I am Fashion still stands, though I do think that my later rationalization of it in this blog is a better articulation of how we feel.

As for us continuing to blog even more regularly than before, I attribute it to the "newness" of our blogs. Starting a new blog is like starting a relationship. At the beginning everything is new and exciting as you get to know the other person and watch your relationship grow and mature. Every up and every down is a significant moment. Then the honeymoon phase eventually wears off and you reach a happy medium, where your relationship becomes a part of your daily life. With any luck, you will live happily ever after in this state with a few surprises here and there to spice up the norm. If not, your relationship will wane and you grow apart, eventually deciding that you are both better off parting ways.

Clearly I'm in the honeymoon phase. We are starting to explore new things together, trying to figure out what works best for the both of us. Every new post is an adventure. Every comment and email is exciting. I want to spend every moment of everyday with it, checking on its progress i.e. stalking the traffic, the incoming and outgoing links etc. It's an exhilarating feeling that I'd almost forgotten about!

Analogy aside, it is heartwarming to read everyone's encouraging comments and to know that we were able to leave a small footprint on some people's lives. We appreciate your support and remember that we've not left the blogging world for good. Come visit us some time at our new blogs -(Find the links to our new blogs in the post below). We miss you guys!

Back to Black.

I'm not talking about the 'classic' or 'sophisticated' black but instead I believe it is time to dress up our wardrobe with a fierce black courtesy of Alexander McQueen, Preen and Balmain. It's time to skip the safety of conservative fashion(mimicking the 40's and 50's) and trade it in for a new and modern definition of fierce to rival that of Christian Suriano. This black just tells the world that although we're in the middle of economic crisis, I still have the style and opportunity to bring fierce satorialist fashion choices in any situation. Bring back the real black of 2009, I'll say! xx Lisa

We're in this months issue of OYSTER magazine!

Yes, we're in the social pages so let's just add that to our 'Press Clippings' arena of TIFB. And yes, it was indeed the Viktor&Rolf party which I wrote about last time (and inserted the picture of in a previous post). But hey! At least we got in! =)Grab this month's issue of Oyster magazine for cutting edge fashion."Issue 80 features queen of reinvention Grace Jones, the darkly elegant Rick Owens, experimental filmmaker Michel Gondry, Haute Couture darling Alexis Mabille, as well as the brilliant Animal Collective, synth-pop duo Telepathe and cover girl Alice Dellal.

As well as this we get an insight into London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 09, talk to designers Christopher Kane, Mario Schwab and Louise Goldin about their distorted silhouettes and feature original artworks from Australia’s most conceptual designers, Akira Isogawa, Perks and Mini (PAM), Romance Was Born, Kirrily Johnson and Elke Kramer.

Plus sensational fashion photography by Stephen Chee, Marissa Kaiser, Trevor King, Andy Tan, Daniela Muller-Brunke."

We LOVE IT! Many thanks to the lovely PR companies and Oyster Mag.

Fur is fashion?

Judging from the amount of fur shawls, fur lining, fur headwear and fur trim which has erupted from the runway shows with labels like Hermes, Valentino, Anne Valerie Hash and Christian Dior all embracing the fashionable side of fur. Fur has been a PETA related fashion debate for quite some time now, and honestly, amongst all the avante garde creations which have been popping up here and there recently, it's nice to know that if there is anything I no longer have to purchase to add to my wardrobe, it would be a fur coat as my grandmother had left me one to inherit from her last trip to Paris. Overall, I'm just saying that it's nice to be able to find the quality of such items back in fashion; just as the little black dress is purely synonymous with class and taste; fur appears to epitomise the same level of luxury. And as for the satin Hugh Hefner inspired Dolce pyjama pants from last season...well, those can be left in the bedroom. xx Lisa

Neckwear is the new accesory.

Forget Louboutins for once and embrace the neckwear trend which is quickly emerging into the collections of significant designers such as Christopher Bailey for Burberry, Marni, Vera Wang, Miu Miu and Matthew Williamson...just to name a few. Whether they are chunky, beaded, embellished or just plain old interesting, it's time to bring some jewellery back into our wardrobe styles, and with fashion week almost over (key word; almost), it's time to wear elegant Salvatore Ferragamo kitten heels again with a classic black Roland Mouret ensemble, dressed up with a crazy neckpiece. Now, doesn't that sound like fun!
