ss myself :) what do you think you bring to the fashion blog world I try to talk to my readers like they're friends and as a result many have become just that. But I include my own life experiences and because I am in the entertainment industry I try to bring those things to my blog as well. How is your style different than everyone else I grew up on the east coast but I have lived in Los Angeles for 9 years so I think my style has evolved into a blend of the two. I learned to dress more chic and sophisticated
on the east coast but California has forced me to translate that into a more casual everyday way of dressing. I also wear things in my outfit posts that I would really wear out on the street. I don't try to style for the pages of Vogue when posting. (as fun as that might be, it's just not practical) so I come up with outfits that are wearable. who is your inspiration I am inspired every morning when I go to all the
other wonderful fashion blogs. I think we all inspire each other. I know I learn a lot from them and hopefully they learn things from me. what impression do you want to leave on the people that visits your blog I want to bring a little sunshine into their day. Life can get hectic and I
feel like when you visit your favorite blogs you do so as an escape even if a momentary one. I try to keep things positive and hopefully that makes their day a little brighter. who is your favorite designer Christian Louboutin. I love shoes. I can feel amazing in anything if I love the shoes I have on. I have a pair of classic black CL pumps and every time I put them on I feel happy. what piece is a must have in your closet My H&M breton striped 3/4 sleeve top. It's a go to piece that I can grab, throw on with jeans and heels and know I am going to look out together. My other (can I pick 2?!) is a black mini by Max Studio that I thrifted several years ago. It's so versatile and can be worn for day or night.
but the "moment of truth" for me was the discovery of fashion/style blogs. They really sucked me in and I soon decided I wanted my own. how do you describe your style If I had to describe my style in one word, I'd prefer to call it "eclectic" (but to be honest, that might be a bit of an overstatement). I like many styles and especially mixing them up. I wear what I like and what I feel like at the moment without thinking too much about it or trying to label it. what made you start a
fashion blog I'd been checking out others' blogs for a few months already when it suddenly dawned on me: "Hey, I wanna do this too!" what do you think you bring to the fashion blog world Besides the obvious (more or less creative outfit photos), there's also my attitude, wit and criticism which I often miss in this "world". how is your style different than everyone else I don't pretend my style is something extra special. It is what it
is and I like it, that's what I find the most important. The biggest difference between me and many other bloggers might be that I don't own any expensive designer items and don't give a crap about brands. I despise snobbism and I find wasting huge amounts of money on a clothing item almost perverse. who is your inspiration My favorite style bloggers, of course (you can see my list somewhere on the
left side of my blog). If I had to choose a celebrity style icon (I hate this expression, but anyway), it would be Roisin Murphy. I also like Iris Apfel's style a lot. what impression do you want to leave on the people that visits your blog I had to think about this one a little. Well, I guess it would be nice if they realized how stylish, smart and funny I was! =) who is your favorite designer Believe it or not, I don't have one. I'm yet to be astonished by someone's designs in such extent that I'd want to call them my absolute favorite.when where you introduced to fashion I was introduced to fashion at a very young age. I loved to dress up as a young girl and experimenting with different styles of clothing. I am an art student so naturally I was attracted to the art of fashion and absolutely loved how open and expressive clothing can be. how do you describe your style Very versatile, a bit of edge to a feminine look, a look from all decades preceding the 90’s with a modern twist. I hate to restrict myself to a certain style since I love a lot of different styles.
what made you start a fashion blog In the beginning, my blog didn’t start off as a fashion blog. I just needed somewhere to express my thoughts, but as time passed I started to document my outfits for fun and to share new pieces that I was excited/happy to get my hands on. My first outfit post was in March 2010. what do you think you bring to the fashion blog world Me myself and I. What I am passionate about, what I love and my aesthetics.
how is your style different than everyone else It’s very eclectic. I can go from extreme minimalism to a more ‘busy’ look. But I basically wear what I want when I want. who is your inspiration I have many! They include models off duty, Kate Moss, Alexa Chung, CocoRosie + Regina Spektor (just to name a couple), numerous fashion blogs and of course Tommy Ton’s striking photos!
what impression do you want to leave on the people that visits your blog A young girl who is chasing her dreams and defying society’s rules. who is your favorite designer I love Alexander Wang. what piece is a must have in your closet A good pair of wedges/clogs is forever a staple of mine!
How did you come up the name of your blog Wasted Wardrobe kind of has a double meaning for me. My hometown of Milwaukee is definitely a beer-centric city, for one! Also, I used to get all gussied up then end up either staying in or just hitting a dive bar where no one cares about fashion... So I'd always say something like 'Oh, another night for my wasted wardrobe.' But I enjoy getting dressed no matter what the circumstances, so I think Wasted Wardrobe is really just me representing Brew City in the blog world. when were you introduced to fashion Hmm, well, I do remember my mom telling me about the first day of kindergarten and how I threw a tantrum because I wanted to pick out my own outfit, not the little Jordache dress she had planned for me. Mom won that round, but now I
wear whatever I want! :) how do you describe your style I feel that my style today still retains some of the influence that made a big impression on me in my youth. Grunge was huge when I was in middle school, when I got my first pair of Docs (silver!) and that eventually morphed into this kind of cartoon goth when I was in high school. I think I tend to fall back to those styles, not in their pure form, but in little glimmers of inspiration. I consider myself an adventurous person and that definitely comes through in my personal style... I'll try anything! I think that ultimately my personal style revolves around whatever accessories I feel like wearing. I'm a hat freak and I have wayyyy to
o many socks and stockings, which I've been collecting for well over a decade. I like to pay attention to current trends, but reinterpret them in ways that speak to me. It's a fun game. what made you start a fashion blog I studied fashion design and journalism in school and my blog is a product of a class assignment that I just wanted to continue with since I enjoyed it so much. I don't have many people here to talk fashion or style with here in Milwaukee, so it's a way for me to communicate with people who have the same interests. what do you think you bring to the fashion blog world I think I represent a city that isn't known for fashion, isn't known for having tremendous style. For the most part, I'd say that people here don't care to pay attention to what's on the runways, but I use my blog to say 'Hey, Milwaukee can get in on it too!' h
ow is your style different than everyone else I'm a bargain hunter! I like to get a lot of bang for my buck, so I'm constantly sniffing out deals. I almost never buy anything full price. Rather than pointing out how expensive my outfit is, I point out how little I paid. But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate quality. Shoes are my splurge items, even though I usually get them at a sale price. Life's too short to wear poorly made shoes. who is your inspiration I think mood is more my inspiration than an actual person. But I really enjoy Lykke Li's style. She's got a really dark bohemian thing going on that I find myself leaning towards, plus she's a really intense live performer. She just lets it all out and flails around. Oh, Daphne Guinness, Kate Lanphear and Catherine B
aba are all women who I love to keep an eye on. I think I just like badass bitches, pardon my language. what impression do you want to leave on the people that visits your blog I hope that readers feel inspired to be bold, to wear whatever their little heart desires, but at the same time realize that it doesn't take a fortune to have fun with fashion. who is your favorite designer It's really hard to say one designer specifically because I'm big on mixing looks. It all depends on the day. But Ann Demeulemeester, Haider Ackermann, Helmut Lang... Alexander Wang accessories always get me in the gut. Gareth Pugh's videos get me all excited for his clothes... what piece is a must have in your closet A good hat! I feel naked without one. I think wearing a fun hat just makes the day brighter. :)
